Hurry Up And Wait
Hurry up and wait. That’s where I am with my manuscript. You spend months, maybe years, placing one word after perfect word on the page, only to discover the work is just beginning. Instead of it being as simple as, here, print this, send it around the world, and make me a successful author, it takes time. Maybe if I had started this journey in my younger years, I would be more patient with this great expenditure of time. I understand it’s all required, though.
Take Me Seriously
Hello everyone, and welcome back to the cabin. We’ve had our first real snow of the year in New Mexico, and the ski lodges are announcing opening dates. Brrrr, not for me. I’m all about outdoor sports that don’t always require a hooded down jacket. Take fishing or golf. Yes, both can be done year-round but not by me. If there is frost on the green, my clubs stay in the bag. I’ve always loved fishing. There’s something about being out in the quiet of nature, and the sport of outsmarting a bass or sun fish in the farm pond my uncle used to take me to around Wanette, OK. I can’t tell you its exact location, or I’d have to shoot you. ????
Relax and Get the Work Done
Hello everyone. I haven’t been around the cabin much this week. The annual International Western Music Association convention is being held here in Albuquerque. Except for a couple of productive writing hours in the morning, I’m at the venue daily enjoying the music, poetry and written word from members that share my love of the West. I am a fan of music of all kinds, but over the past thirteen years, Western Music has been the primary focus of my musical interests.
Stokin' the Fire
Brrrrr. It’s chilly in the cabin this morning. Maybe you remember the old song, ‘Put Another Log On The Fire’? I am not a fan of cold weather. I’ll try not to bore you with that statement too many times. Don’t you just love fall, though? The colors, food harvests, festivals, and the food. Oh, yeah, I said that. Can I just rant a bit about pumpkin spice, though? I mean pumpkin spice in e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!! Stop! Okay, as a writer, I know I just crossed the line and over used the exclamation point. If you like all the spices, go for it. I don’t need pumpkin spice flavored toothpaste. Just sayin’.
Welcome
Welcome to my Little Brown Cabin. When I sit down to write, my mind takes me to a cabin on a lake or stream where there is peace and calm that allows the words to flow with purpose or with abandon. Each time is different.
