Where Do We Go From Here

Happy New Year to all my reader/writer friends. We made it through another one, but now what? Since I have a second novel published, I should schedule events to support sales of said book. Somehow, I just can’t get going. When does creativity turn into a business driven by sales? I just want to write. My being an introvert doesn’t help at all. “You mean I have to talk to people on the phone about my books and get them to hold an event for me?” That’s hard. Maybe hiring someone to do the promotional stuff would work, then all I have to do is show up and talk. I can do that, but then there is the expense. It’s a necessary evil, or at least an important part of being creative. I mean, the alternative is I simply write, then give it away as people ask for copies. Oh well, let me ponder that for a while.
One thing is for sure in 2026. Change is just around the corner. Whether in fashion, politics, music, cars, food, or AI, change is good most of the time if you meet it head-on. Don’t let it chase you down the street until you give in. In the statement commonly attributed to Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Good words to live by.
I hope you all had a pleasant holiday season. I know most spent time with family while others enjoyed solitude or time with that special someone. Some were hungry, lonesome, or lost a favorite pet or human loved one during what we know as ‘The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year’. How can that be? There’s that necessary evil thing again. It’s life, and we must keep changing through it all.
That seems a directive aimed at me. Okay. I’ll pull up my big-girl pants and do as is required to be a ‘successful’ creative. Where are you headed this new year?
