Exciting Yuletide Launch

Dec 15, 2025 by Gency Brown

The launch party for my new book, Light in the Dark Forest, was a great success. On a wintry Sunday afternoon, family and friends, old and new, gathered at Books On The Bosque to celebrate with me. Good friend and children's author, Barbara Alt https://www.bar-blyn.net,  led the festivities with lively questions and discussion about the new novel. With the story set in Oklahoma, I added a state map and flag to the décor. I pinpointed places important to the story and my upbringing as an Okie. I also made a big batch of my famous Oklahoma Cow Patty cookies. Which everyone enjoyed. And, hey, I sold books!

Last Saturday evening I took part in Yuletide on the Westside. The festival, including dozens of vendors, live music, and food trucks, has become an annual event. Such creative artists and craftspeople selling just in time for the holidays. I shared a table with my friend Cindy from CMQ Photography, https://www.cmqphotography.com/ and her art added class to my display. And hey, I sold books!

Ever have movie night at your house? We did it last Thursday with our close buddies on hand. Beans and cornbread just like Mama used to make filled our tummies and the movie, The Music Never Stopped, fed our hearts. A good time was had by all ten in attendance. And, hey, I sold books!

I hope you’re having fun with family and friends this holiday season. It’s a time of enjoying those you love and renewing relationships with people you may be missing. Don’t forget your furry pals, too. Some shelters and rescue organizations allow folks to foster a pet for the holidays. Let the little critters share the excitement and love, if only for a few days.

Until 2026, all the best to you and yours.
